Welcome to Potato Town, an artists’ residence, creative space and home away from home in the heart of North Oxfordshire.
A living, breathing hub of creativity, Potato Town in Swerford is home to artist Pam Franklin and furniture maker John Callen. An immersive space that celebrates contemporary arts and crafts on the Great Tew Estate, Potato Town comprises artists’ studios, gallery space and holiday lets, Field End, designed and built by John and The Artist’s House.
Providing a rare insight into the working lives of two established craftspeople, Potato Town welcomes visitors from across the globe, enchanted by the idyllic surroundings.
Pam and John set up home at Potato Town over twenty years ago and have since transformed a dilapidated estate cottage into a family home, artists’ studio and holiday cottage. Driven by John’s love of environmental architecture, Potato Town is a seamless blend of country charm and innovative eco-friendly design.

John Callen creates bespoke furniture, interiors and garden buildings, working across a wide range of design and construction projects.
